Ministry Update 12/4/15

Hello everyone, I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday! We spent the week in Florida with my family and had lots of fun. It’s always a blessing to spend time with family and we even got to visit with some good friends while we were there. Here is a quick at some current happenings:

Christmas Gifts For Children In Need

Each year, it is our pleasure to give gifts to the children who are in our meal centers in the Philippines. It is a blessing to watch the little faces light up as they open the “bags of blessings.” These gifts are unique because they are not toys, they are bags filled with everyday items that the children (and families) desperately need. Most of these kids don’t even have good clothes or food so these gift bags are a real help to them and their families.

Each bag includes rice, sardines, meatloaf, noodles, milk, spaghetti, spaghetti sauce, and cheese. They will have a special service with games and prizes and then give out the gift bags.

The bags cost $12.00 each and we have 500 children in our meal centers. That brings our total amount needed to $2,700. If you would like to be a part of Christmas for these children, simply send in your gift and mark “Christmas” on your check. You can also donate online here.

Sad update to a former story

If you did not read my last blog, please take a minute to do so here. In it, I gave an update about Ronel, the 20-year old boy who was very sick. Sadly, Ronel passed away at his home a week and a half ago. All of the details are in the blog. The good news is that he received Christ as his Savior a few days before he died. Please keep his mother and family in your prayers during this difficult time.

Fall Fundraising Campaign Update

Our Fall Fundraising Campaign continues to go strong and we have now reached $17,522.50, which means we are only $22,477.50 away from our total campaign goal of $40,000. Our goal is to reach the final mark by December 31st.

We are very grateful to each of you who have already given in the campaign and I would ask that you continue to pray that the Lord would see us through to the end with the full amount. As a reminder, the money raised during the campaign will help to fund our ministry next year. It is only a portion of our yearly operating expense, but it is a very important portion. This money will help fund our resource clinics, street outreach, meal centers, and other important projects.

Our travels

In the last few days, we have been at Bethel Baptist Church in Blackshear, GA, and University Baptist Church in Auburndale, FL, and Bible Baptist Church in Crossville, TN. I am extremely thankful for these pastors and congregations for allowing us to share our hearts and ministry with them.

On Sunday, I will be at Lighthouse Baptist Church in Greenwood, SC. If you live in the area, I would love to see you there!

Thanks for reading,

Travis Sharpe
