Ministry Update 2-26-16

Our ministry update this week is exciting with lots of things to report and some upcoming opportunities, so let’s dive right in.

This week in the Philippines

Steve and Rebekah Dixon, along with their two boys, had a very successful week in the Philippines. Steve is one of our Board of Directors and has been involved with the Philippines ministry since day one. I’m very grateful for the time that he and his family took out of their busy schedule to make this trip and help out.

Here are some highlights from their trip:

  • Steve met with some key people to discuss phase one of our building project and he came away with some very helpful information for us.
  • They passed out several mercy medical packets that were provided by GPA Mobilization Missions.
  • Steve and his son Ben preached in several services.
  • They visited the meal centers and the nightly street ministry.
  • Steve baptized several new converts.

2016 Golf Marathon

Save the date! May 28th we will be having a golf marathon here in Cullman to raise money for phase one of our children’s ministry. We will need 36 golfers to make this a successful event. If you like to golf and want to help change the course of a child’s life, please consider playing or helping out. We now have player information up on our website with full details. You can view that here.

The golf marathon works so well because the golfers go out and find friends to sponsor them. In essence, the golfers become committed to raising their portion of the money that will go toward building the home for the children. It’s a great way for someone to contribute to saving a child’s life while having fun at the same time.

Golfers need to be registered by March 15th! There are two ways to register:

  1. Call Shane Reese at 256-507-2442 and register by phone
  2. Email Shane at uigolfmarathon@yahoo.com

September Mission Trip Opportunity

As of this week, we have 9 people signed up for the mission trip to the Philippines in September. Two people are from our home church here in Alabama, six are from Georgia and we have one person from Maryland. This will be an action-packed few days that is full of ministry opportunities.

We will preach in local churches, serve in our meal centers, work with homeless children and much more. Our friend Shawn Doss is heading this trip up and it is sure to be a real blessing to the people we minister to and also to those who go. We need about 3-5 additional team members for this trip so if you feel like the Lord is leading you in that direction, please contact us today!

The dates are September 8-17, 2016. Click here for all of the information and details or to go ahead and sign up.

2016 Resource Clinics

A resource clinic is a one-day event that we put on to truly bring hope and help to those experiencing homelessness and poverty. It’s a great opportunity for a church to be a practical blessing to their community. Through these events, we work hard to provide critical resources such as Bibles, clothing, haircuts, birth certificates, reading glasses, and much more.

We also serve a great meal and have a lot of fellowship. The most important part is the evangelism efforts. At each event there will be singing and preaching. We also have soul-winners who spend time counseling and praying with anyone they can. This year we have five Resource Clinics scheduled and a great team of leaders who are committed to making them great. Please pray for successful events where many people receive the help they need. Here are the dates and locations.

April 16- Coatesville, PA

May 14- Toccoa, GA

June 4-Cincinnati, OH

June 18- Bristol, VA

July 16- Winston-Salem, NC

Thanks for reading and praying for the Lord’s work!
